Procedure 12.01.99.RO.02 – Annual Evaluation of Faculty – Dr. Singh, Faculty Senate President, attended the meeting. After lengthy discussion, it was decided consistence was needed throughout the Texas A&M System. It was agreed by all Council members that faculty should be reviewed at the end of their 3 rd year and be provided with a progress report. The first 3 years would be a “practice” for tenure. If a faculty member is not doing well, they would definitely know at that time. This would prevent undue surprises in their 6 th year. If they did not improve, a terminal contract would be given at the 6 th year review. Dr. Ashley stated the Chancellor would be reviewing the universities' tenure procedures. Faculty has expressed concerns that the credibility of the current rating system is in our current procedures and process. Dr. Ashley plans to attend the next Faculty Senate meeting on May 1 to discuss concerns.

Disparity of Adjunct Salaries – Adjunct salaries across colleges range from $1,800 to $5,000 per course. The salaries ranges in colleges need to be more consistent. Deans were requested to develop a proposal for their colleges to reflect total costs of adjunct faculty. Proposals need to list what programs colleges currently have in place. As an example, a handout was shared by Dean Klein reflecting information needed in the proposals.
