Section III
Unemployment Insurance

Unemployment insurance is a form of insurance that provides unemployment benefits to qualified jobless workers. Texas A&M University-Commerce employees, at no personal costs, are covered by unemployment insurance; however, eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits is not automatic. For example, benefits may be denied to individuals for voluntarily quitting work without good cause, for misconduct and for failure to apply for and accept suitable work. Jobless individuals whose previous employer was A&M-Commerce should check with any one of the offices of the Texas Employment Commission located throughout the state to determine the proper procedure for applying for unemployment benefits.
