A&M-C a romantic place? These Lions think so!

Jennifer Dagley (BS ’01) of Palestine and Adam Huddleston (‘97-’01) of Sulphur Springs were married on June 5. Jennifer’s father, David Dagley (BS ’75), and Adam’s mother, Frances Douglas-Huddleston (BS ’70, MS ’72), are also Alumni. Here, in a letter to The Pride, Jennifer remembers how their relationship began at A&M-Commerce.

“It began as a Lion Pride romance. We met in an English class in January of 1999. Dr. Wynne, our professor at the time, missed class on the second day, and it was then that we began to talk. Four months later Adam told me he loved me at Gee Lake. We were both very active on campus. He was taking prepharmacy classes and living at Hubbell. I was majoring in elementary education and living at Smith. I was Residence Hall Association President and a Golden Leo, among other things. We were both part of the first group of the Krazi Lion spirit organization. I graduated in May of 2001 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies and currently teach kindergarten in Palestine. Adam currently attends the Texas Tech School of Pharmacy in Amarillo. On April 5, 2003, Adam came back to the area for spring break. He wanted to take a trip to A&M Commerce. We drove to Gee Lake. It was a quiet Saturday with not many people around. We were standing at the Performing Arts Center overlooking Gee Lake when he dropped down on one knee and proposed. What an awesome thing–the place where he said “I love you” and the place where dreams began–A&M-Commerce. So we truly love our University for many reasons and we met friends that will last a lifetime.
