Alumni Association Board of Directors Retreat, June 23-24, 2000
Members of the Alumni Association Board of Directors, joined by members of the Foundation Board of Directors, gathered at the Renaissance Hotel in Dallas for a two-day retreat. Board members worked on goal setting and served as focus group members for University strategic planning. Commerce Area Alumni Chapter Evening at the Musical, July 8, 2000 Members and guests of the Commerce Area Alumni Chapter met for the University’s performance of “big-the musical.” Several alumni were members of the show cast. Commerce Area Alumni Chapter Board of Directors Meeting, August 9, 2000
Board members for the Commerce Chapter met to plan the yearly calendar and budget for the Chapter. Special activities of the Chapter were discussed.

Graduation, August 12, 2000
415 new graduates joined the alumni roles on August 12. Assisting with the welcoming of the new alumni was Gary Finney, Association president, who addressed the graduates as part of the commencement ceremonies. Janet Peek, Association vice president, Jonette Almon, assistant director of alumni, Felicia Schilling, administrative assistant, and Kayla Price, alumni director, greeted the students before the ceremonies and hosted a reception for them and their families following commencement.

Food, Fun and Football, September 2, 2000
Tarrant County alumni were invited to a pre-football game dinner at Ernie’s Seafood in North Richland Hills on September 2. The group then moved to the Birdville ISD stadium to cheer on the Lions to victory over Abilene Christian University. Please see photo page 9.

Dinner Dance Planning Committee Meeting, September 13, 2000
Members of the Dinner Dance 2000 planning committee met at Southern Junction in Rockwall to wrap-up final details of the event. The committee contributed over $2,000 to the alumni scholarship endowment, while keeping the same amount of money as start-up funds for the next dinner dance. That’s right . . . the group voted to hold another dinner dance in 2002!
