The Lions will open the 2000 Football season against Abilene Christian at Birdville Stadium in North Richland Hills on Sept. 2. The action begins with a pregame dinner and get together at Ernie’s at 5:00 p.m. Kickoff follows at 7:00 p.m.

All tickets to the game are $5.00 and are available through August 25 by calling the Athletic Department at (903) 886-5558.

The contest marks the first time the Lions have opened the season at a neutral site since 1989 when they defeated West Alabama 41-24 at Ladd Stadium in Mobile, Ala. The Lions have opened the season in the Metroplex four previous times, defeating Prairie View A&M all four years from 1974 to 1977 in the Cotton Bowl.
