“We want to give some kid the opportunity...like we had.”
—Carrol Adams (BS ’55)

HOMECOMINGCROWD

The timing is especially appropriate because the new $500 scholarship has roots in another Homecoming. Several years ago a few former farm boys ran into one another at the annual Agriculture Alumni Breakfast in the Memorial Student Center.
Farm boys have always had their own special kind of camaraderie born of living, studying, and—most of all—working together, Carrol said. In that spirit, he and the others decided to contact other farm boys and get them together—but to do so with something even bigger and better in mind.
It was as if they knew that this year’s Homecoming would be built around the idea of remembering the past and living the future.
“We decided that, while we could just come to Homecoming and visit and eat, we wanted to have a purpose,” Carrol said. “We want to give some kid the opportunity to go to college just like we had.”
Development officer Gary Hancock (BS ‘68) is helping coordinate the project.
