American College Test Residual (ACT-R)

   The ACT-R is a college admissions exam that tests the areas of English, Math, Reading, and Science.  The ACT-R is a curriculum based test.  The questions on the ACT-R are directly related to what you have learned in your high school courses in English, Mathematics, and Science.  The difference between ACT and ACT-R scores is that ACT-R scores cannot be transferred to another university.  Questions regarding the ACT-R can be directed to the staff of the Office of Student Assessment at 903-886-5122.

ACT-R Test Dates and Fees –The ACT-R is $45, which must be paid three days prior to the test date.  We accept cash, credit or money orders only.  (No checks!)  Call 903-886-5122 to schedule test dates or for more information.

What to expect on the day of the exam:

    • Report to the McDowell Business Administration Building room 315 on the test date you have previously signed up for.  (To sign up click here or call the Office of Student Assessment at 903-886-5122 three or more business days before the scheduled test date)
    • Walk in registration will no longer be allowed. To take the ACT-R, you must sign up at least 3 days prior to the actual test date.
    • Students taking the ACT-R are generally finished approximately three and half hours (3 ½). 
    • Testing time includes 1 break. 

    Be sure you bring these items to the test center:

    1. Acceptable identification.  You will not be admitted to test without acceptable identification.  
    2. Sharpened soft-lead (No. 2) pencils with good erasers.  (No mechanical pencils)
    3. A permitted calculator, if you wish to use one on the Mathematics Test. Not all models are permitted. Click here for acceptable models.

    Do NOT bring*

    1. cellular phones
    2. watch with audible alarm
    3. mechanical pencils
    4. pens
    5. textbooks
    6. foreign language dictionaries
    7. dictionaries
    8. notes or other aids
    9. scratch paper
    10. highlighters
    11. Compass, protractor, ruler, or any other aids
    12. pagers or beepers
    13. photographic devices
    14. CD or tape players
    15. reading material
    16. food, drink (including water)

    *If any of the prohibited items are brought to the center they will be taken up and turned off (if necessary). The center is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
