Work will primarily focus on cabling, network support and other assigned tasks.
This is not an operations (machine room), software development, or systems administration job.
No specific prior work experience or major required.  Training will be provided. 

Preferred applicants will: 

·                     Be an undergraduate with a minimum of 2 years remaining before graduation.

·                     Have experience using computers and other office equipment.

·                     Be familiar with common hand tools and their proper use.

·                     Have the ability to learn quickly and maintain attention to detail.

·                     Be able to lift and carry light loads, walk/crawl/work in confined spaces.

·                     Be available for a 15-19 hour per week schedule.

Position Title : Student Design Coordinator  

Summary of Responsibilities

The Morris Recreation Center’s Design Coordinator is employed to create any form of advertising needed by the professional staff for events/programs/building notices/etc. Assisting the web master or others in the Media Service Department when needed. Work under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Operations. 

Primary Duties:

        ·         Creating advertising for events or promotions according to the media request form turned in by Pro Staff
·
         Making sure that the promotions are out in sufficient time for the event to be properly advertised
·
         Work with the others in the Media Department to complete assigned tasks on time
·
         Collaborating with others to come up with new ideas for projects
·
         Performing other duties as assigned

 Qualifications :Required: Must be a student at Texas A&M University-Commerce that is currently enrolled or pre-registered in classes holding at least part-time status.

 Experience : Required:

        ·         Must possess current CPR/FA/AED certification or be able to get within two months of hire.
·
         Must be able to work flexible schedule.
·
         Must possess excellent writing and communication skills.
·
         Possess excellent customer service skills and able to work well with others
·
         Good computer skills are required.
·
         Experience in Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop required

Preferred:

        ·         Experience working with college-age and professional staff employees.
·
         Experience working with Flash, Dreamweaver, and Maya
·
         Ability to learn new software if needed  

Pay rate:   $6.50 p/hr. Maximum of 19 hours per week.

 Position Title: Computer Operator

 Preferred applicants can work some nights or weekends.

 PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Responsible for operating computer and peripheral equipment to process data, submit jobs, run backups, restore files and print reports for the administrative computer systems in the data processing center.  Responsibilities include production, tape library maintenance, logging service calls, and monitoring system consoles for messages and then responding accordingly..

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Runs batch jobs and processes output as scheduled.
  2. Enters commands on console to operate equipment, monitor performance, manage files and tapes, release jobs and maintain operations on designated systems.
  3. Tape Management:  Changing tapes/tape rotation scheme, completing tape reports, transferring tapes to secure location, labeling tapes.
  4. Logs incoming service calls into work-order system.
  5. Troubleshoots minor system problems, contacts on-call administrator when necessary, takes corrective measure when instructed following verbal or written procedures.
  6. Loads peripheral equipment with selected materials such as tapes and printer paper for operating runs..
  7. Observes peripheral equipment for error messages to detect faulty output or hardware failures
  8. Notifies appropriate supervisor of system errors, halts or problem job runs.
  9. Maintains sufficient supply of paper, laser toner/cartridges, labels and other items needed for the efficient operation of the machine room.
  10. Records equipment malfunctions/repairs, system down time, preventative maintenance performed and other events in the appropriate logs.
  11. Classifies, catalogs, and maintains multiple tape libraries consisting of 3,500+ volumes.

 

 

 

 

 

Literature & Languages

2 student workers are needed to start in the Fall semester.  The job of the student workers is to help the departmental secretaries, who are your immediate supervisors. Duties include making copies, filing papers, running errands, answering and directing incoming calls, typing, shredding, and any other projects that might arise. Student workers are there to help the secretaries run the office more efficiently.
