Dr. Jeffrey C. Herndon
Jeffrey Herndon received his B.A. and M.A. degrees from
Texas State University in San Marcos (back when it was called Southwest Texas
State) and then went to Louisiana State University to earn his Ph.D. After
receiving his degree, Dr. Herndon taught in the LSU Honors College for three
years before coming to Texas A&M-Commerce as an assistant professor. While at
LSU, Dr. Herndon taught courses in Classical and Medieval Civilizations,
Twentieth Century Political Religions, Introduction to Political Theory, and
American Government. Dr. Herndon’s primary field is political philosophy, but
he also teaches European Political Systems, American government, and Texas
government. His book, Eric Voegelin and the Problem of Christian Political
Order, is forthcoming from the University of Missouri Press. In addition to
the political philosophy of Eric Voegelin, Dr. Herndon’s research interests
include, classical and early Christian political thought, the philosophical
dimensions of the American founding, and the intersection between literature and
political philosophy.
