Welcome to Journalism/ News-Editorial

 

The news-editorial sequence requires core of University and sequence courses which equip graduates with the intellectual background and journalistic skills to enter the professional world. Each student completes a liberal arts curriculum and undertakes courses in writing, editing, law, ethics, and media history. Each news-editorial major also serves a media internship.

A course in community journalism focuses on non-daily publications and highlights opportunities for students at Texas non-metropolitan newspapers.

Students write for The East Texan, the student newspaper and staff members produce an online edition also. This publication is part of the Department-based Texas Intercollegiate Press Association, with headquarters in the Journalism Building. Visit East Texan Online.

For students who wish to teach journalism at the high school level, a sequence in secondary journalism is offered in co-operation with the College of Education.

A minor in journalism for students in other fields is also offered. Requirements are outlined in the Texas A&M University-Commerce Catalog. View Catalog
