Declare an undergraduate major in the Department?

If you are not yet enrolled at A&M-Commerce, please contact the department and request a tentative degree plan.  This document will identify courses you would be required to take in the program.  If you are presently enrolled,Fill out a Declare major/Minor form and leave with the department for signatures http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/gradschool/gradmenu/Forms.asp. If you would like to discuss the merits of your decision, please feel free to contact the department head , you may also call 903-886-5703, drop by the office, or set up an appointment if you prefer.

Declare a minor

The department offers 18-hour minors in marketing, management, human resource management, and production/operations management.  Requirements depend on your major and the year of the catalog in which your major degree plan was established. Contact the department for a list of the courses that would be required in your situation,Fill out a Declare major/Minor form and leave with the department for signatures http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/gradschool/gradmenu/Forms.asp

Add or drop a course

Fill out add/drop slip and leave it for signatures http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/registrar/dropadd.asp

Substitute a course

For a course required by one of our majors or minors
  • See your faculty advisor
  • For a course by another department’s major or minor
  • You will have to clear it with the department in question. Our department does not have the authority to approve those substitutions
  • Get into MGT 439 or MGT 427

    Apply for graduation

  • Take and fill out a Business Degrees Graduation Checkout checklist
  • Make an appointment to see your faculty advisor
  • Also apply for graduation with the Registrar
  • Challenge your grade in a MKT or MGT  course

  • Wait until you actually get the grade (i.e., after the term)
  • Take a copy of the university procedure for grade appeals

  • Send the Department Head a hard-copy, signed letter asserting one of the three bases for appealing your grade:
        1. You were graded on some basis other than performance
        2. The instructor used different standards for you than other students
        3. The instructor changed the performance standards (a) substantially and (b) without warning.

    Apply for a Graduate Assistantship position

    The department employs a number of graduate assistantships. Contact the department for details on current openings and to be added a distribution list for future openings.
