Publications

Sigma Tau Delta publishes two works: The Rectangle and the Newsletter. The Rectangle is a work dedicated to the writings of the student members of Sigma Tau Delta. Every active and associate member is welcome to submit works of poetry, criticism and short stories for consideration. Please see Dr. Kathryn Jacobs or Marsha Millikin for details. The Newsletter which Sigma Tau Delta publishes is, aptly enough, full of news about the organization. From 1971 on, this work has reported the news of international and regional conventions, international writing contests, new chapters, honor members, writer members and local chapters.

What are the objectives of Sigma Tau Delta?
According to the Sigma Tau Delta handbook, the objectives of Sigma Tau Delta are outlined as follows: "Sigma Tau Delta members are honors students. They are expected to have superior creative talent and to have an interest in literature and language beyond the classroom. The programs should provide them the stimulation of a community of others who have similar talents and interests. They should encourage creative writing. They should provide cultural and intellectual enlightenment." Sigma Tau Delta is, in short, an organization designed to create culturally defined individuals who are brilliant and capable. We intend to have fun along the way.
