| Scholarships : James W. Byrd Scholarship | ||
| A $350 scholarship will be awarded to a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student enrolled at Texas A&M University-Commerce and majoring in English or Spanish. This scholarship can be applied toward student tuition and fees beginning with the Summer or Fall semesters of the year scholarship is awarded. | ||
| Requirements: | ||
| 1. | A GPA of 3.0 or higher in the major, and 3.0 overall is required, and must have completed 9 hours in advanced coursework in major by application deadline | |
| 2. | Letters of recommendation from two (2) instructors at A&M-Commerce; at least one letter must be from a professor in the student's major | |
| 3. | A statement of 300-500 words on either, (1) why you are interested in multi-cultural or multi-ethnic literature or folklore; or, (2) how the study of multi-cultural or multi-ethnic literature or folklore will enrich your professional or personal growth | |
| 4. | Completed application form | |
