THE SYDNEY TAYLOR BOOK AWARDS

This award was established in honor of the author of the classic All of a Kind Family series by her husband, Ralph Taylor, to encourage the publication of outstanding books of positive Jewish content for children. The first Sydney Taylor Book Award was given in 1968. In most years since then, two awards have been given: one for younger readers and one for older readers. Honor books are also cited. Sydney Taylor Body-of-Work Awards have been granted periodically since 1971.

The Best of the Bunch lists for 1999, 2000, and 2001 are contained at the end of this listing. They contain quality books chosen from those submitted to and evaluated by, the Sydney Taylor Award Committee of the Association of Jewish Libraries. The Committee recommends them for home and classroom use.
