Position Title:

Graduate Assistantships-James G. Gee Library

Position Description:

Job Title--Graduate Assistant – Cataloging.
Major Job Duties:
Performs simple monographic copy cataloging of books purchased through the PromptCat system. Assists in the database cleanup of records in the library’s integrated library system (ILS).
Working hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Friday.
Minor Job Duties: May perform back-up duties for other staff members within the department.
Required Skills and Experience: Detail-oriented, with good computer skills. Ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions, to maintain records, and to make independent decisions in accordance with departmental policies.
Preferred Education and Experience: Job-related experience working with records in an library online catalog. Knowledge of library cataloging codes and standards, such as MARC, LCSH, and AACR2.

Must be eligible for employment in the United States and have demonstrated excellence in verbal English communication.
