Do an Author search: A=White Minor
This will find all the books, etc. that the Library has by Minor White.

To find books written about/criticism of: Example Edward Weston

This will find all the books, etc. that the Library has which have been written about Edward Weston or about his work.

New York Times Index   REF A121N44  1946-Present.
Semi-monthly, with annual cumulations. Information on movies in general may be found using the subject heading "Motion Pictures." Reviews or articles about individual films may be found under the name of the film (printed in bold-face type). Before 1983, the subject "Motion Pictures--Reviews and Other Data on Specific Productions" was used. When looking for the actual reviews as published in the newspaper, you may find the issue on microfilm or by consulting The New York Times Film Reviews (REF PN 1995 .N4), a set of books which reproduce film reviews exactly as they appeared in The New York Times from 1913 to 1978. There is a two month publication delay.

A companion index to the New York Times Index. Look up a person's name to find any references located in the New York Times.

Provides objective, accurate and well documented biographical articles about living leaders in all fields of human accomplishment the world over.
The Focal Encyclopedia of Photography  REF TR9F6 1965 2 Vols.
Somewhat dated but designed for readers with an active interest in photography. Covers the techniques, art, business of photography.
The Photography Encyclopedia  REF TR 9M39 1999
The bulk of this encyclopedia consists of biographical and glossary entries. It also includes awards, galleries, museums, magazines, films, manufacturers, book review. It also has a time line of photography.

There are many other dictionaries & encyclopedias in this same call number order; however, they are dated and contain mainly definitions.

An Index to American Photographic Collections  REF Folio TR12M41982
Covers over 450 collections. Institutions are identified with an address and phone number. Some collections describe the photographers' work and many will list portfolios and significant books. The Photographer Index section includes over 19,000 photographers.

Provides information that can help you sell, exhibit or market your work to numerous outlets.
A New History of Photography  REF TR 15N6813 1998
This book is NOT an anthology of the lives of great photographers, or a collection of contemporay photographs. It is divided into three sections: chapters which generally deal with a specific period, social practice, dossiers which provide an enlarged view of a particular theme and boxes which dwell more fully on particular historical questions.
American Photographers: an illustrated who's who among leading contemporary americans  REF TR139A46 1989
Photographer profiles and illustrations. Entries are alphabetical. Includes an index of stock photo houses.
MacMillan Biographical Encyclopedia of Photographic Artists & Innovators  REF TR139B767 1983
This book includes information about the world of photography as well as the photographers in it. It includes not only photographers but persons who have contributed to the field such as curators, museum directors, and gallery owners.
Contemporary Photographers 3rd ed.  REF TR139C663 1995
Choice of entrants is intended to reflect the best and most prominent of contemporary photographers. Entries consists of: biography, individual exhibitions, group exhibitions, bibliography of books and articles by and about the entrant. Entrants have been invited to make a statement on their work or on contemporary photography in general and to choose a representative photo. The entry ends with a signed critical essay.
Early Photographs & Early Photographers:a survey in dictionary form  REF TR 139M3 1973b
"The first photographs ever were taken during the 1820's. The daguerreotype process was published in 1839; the calotype in 1841. The wet plate process was introduced in 1851; the dry plate in 1871." The basic facts and great names form the heart of this book. Chronologically the entries close somewhere between 1910-1914.
