Database Help:
Tagging records

Caution!

Tagging records to view, print or email in batches can be very helpful, but care should always be taken when tagging records in a computer database. Many database users have lost hours of work due to an unexpected glitch in the computer.

Always:

Use the navigational "buttons" provided by the database. Using the Back and Next buttons on your browser while using a database can lead to losing tagged records and/or a corrupted searching session.

Compare your final shown list of records with a list (written or mental) of which records you actually tagged.

Only trust the computer to hold one page worth of tags at a time. Print before going to view and print the next pages of records.

Don't expect the full text of the article to print out unless you see the actual text on the screen. When you click on "Print", whatever is on the screen is what will print.

Never:

Never trust a computer to hold more than one page of tagged records at a time.

When using an OVID interface database, never jump between your search results page (i.e. the one with tags) and the "full citation", or "full text" and expect it to remember your tags: it probably won't...
