The Catalog Department is responsible for providing bibliographical access to the collections in the Gee Library and the Metroplex Center Library. Materials include books, maps, manuscripts, music scores, sound recordings, videorecordings, graphic materials, computer files and microforms.
Authorities established by the Library of Congress are used to control the names and subject headings in our catalog. See references are made to guide patrons to the right headings and old headings
are always updated. The collections are classified according to the LC (Library of Congress) system except for local theses and dissertations, media, music records, curriculum books, juvenile books and government documents.
Normally, it takes about three days to complete the cataloging, linking and labeling, but we can rush a book through in an hour when a rush request is received.
