Texas A&M University-Commerce
Division of Academic and Student Affairs
Procedure: PLANNING AND EVALUATION OF PROGRAMS
Purpose: The purpose of planning and evaluation of programs within the Division of Academic and Student Affairs is to identify and assess, from the University’s strategic plan, goals and objectives appropriate to the Division and essential to carrying out the mission of the University.
Components: Planning and evaluation may be facilitated in a variety of ways as determined by each respective unit; however, two methodologies will be required: 1) Strategic Planning and 2) Indepth Program Review.
Strategic plans will be developed by the respective college, department/program, area and unit within the Division. These plans, to be reported on annually, will include:
1. Mission or Purpose Statement
2. Overall Goals
3. Measurable Objectives
4. Strategies for Achievement
5. Evaluation Procedure(s)
6. Use of Results of Evaluation
7. Fiscal Impact
8. Achievements of the Prior Year
Indepth program reviews will be completed by each program at least every five years, reported through administrative channels to the Provost, and shared with representatives from the Faculty Senate. These reviews will be coordinated with external reviews (i.e., Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board) including accreditation self-study and visiting committee reports (i.e., AACSB, CACREP, NASM, CSWE) as well as any specifically required internal reviews.
Responsible Persons: Members of the Deans Council, with guidance from the Provost, will assure that Strategic Plans and Indepth Program Reviews are completed and acted upon by the units under their purview. Furthermore, they will assure that plans are interrelated at each level and appropriate to the mission and goals of the University.
