Position Summary & Responsibilities:      Chief Administrative officer of the College of Education in all matters related to academic affairs, faculty affairs, and student affairs. The dean provides leadership, incentive and direction for program development across all academic, research, and service domains of the College. The dean fosters excellence in all of the College’s academic and certification programs. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs, the dean serves as the College’s primary representative to university community and general public, as well as, an advocate to the administration of the university. The dean has the responsibility for the overall administration and operation of professional education within the institution including accreditation for the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Texas Education Standards. The dean has supervisory responsibility for two (2) Assistant Deans, six (6) Department Heads, Director for Teacher Certification, and College Advising Center.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree in Education or Human Services.

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Three (3) years prior teaching and five (5) years administrative experience.
  • Significant administrative experience, excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to advance the school’s priorities is also required.

 

Salary Range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Educational Leadership

Position Summary & Responsibilities:      The Department Head will provide creative and dynamic leadership to initiate and implement programs appropriate to education initiatives in the Department of Educational Leadership which has curricula in Educational  Administration, Higher Education, Educational Technology, and Training and Development and includes two doctoral programs, masters programs and certificate programs; recommend and supervise partnership contracts with community and state agencies, assist in the development of departmental grants; supervise the budget, personnel, and general operation of the department; represent the department on the College of Education and Human Services Executive Council; and work in a collegial manner with faculty and staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, Educational Administration, Higher Education, Training and Development or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Five years higher education teaching experience
  • Three years teaching and/or administrative experience preK-12
  • Knowledge of research-based teaching in educational administration
  • Demonstrated ability to lead an organization
  • Familiar with application of Instructional Technology
  • A record of teaching, scholarship and service to qualify for the rank of tenured Associate Professor/Professor and appointment to senior graduate faculty status

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years or more of leadership experience in higher education
  • Chaired and/or served on doctoral dissertation committees
  • Leadership experience with UCEA, NCPEA or Community College professional organizations
  • Participation in relevant state and/or national level professional associations
  • Experience in successful grant writing

Position Summary & Responsibilities:      Texas A&M University-Commerce invites nominations and expressions of interest for the position of Assistant Vice-President  of Student Affairs. The Assistant Vice-President serves as the University’s principal administrative leader for the Division of Student Affairs and reports to the Provost. The Division is composed of the following units: Residence Life, Morris Recreation Center, Children’s Center, Memorial Student Center, Career Services, Center for Counseling and Student Life, Student Health Center, Diversity and Cultural Affairs, Disability Resources, and Student Activities and Leadership.

 

The new Assistant Vice-President will join a University that is committed to enhancing student services to create a strong educational community that supports excellence both inside and outside the classroom. This person will play a leadership role in developing policies, programs, and activities relating to student life for a broadly diverse student population.

Required Qualifications:

The Assistant Vice-President will preferably have the following experience

and expertise:

  • A master’s degree is required
  • a minimum of five years progressively responsible experience in student affairs
  • a track record of implementing successful programs and services that are grounded in student development theory
  • experience in managing multiple  programs and budgets and personnel
  • excellent interpersonal, communication, collaboration, and facilitation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  A doctorate with a focus on student development is preferred.

Position Summary & Responsibilities:      Associate or Full Professor to begin August 2007 or earlier to direct an innovative department of approximately 20 English, Spanish, French, and Philosophy faculty.  Programs include undergraduate and masters degrees in English and Spanish and the PhD in English, as well as minors in French and Philosophy. The department head has leadership and management responsibilities for academic programs, for faculty development and evaluation, and for student matters.  Doctorate in English, Linguistics, or Modern Languages is required, as is administrative and teaching experience in higher education.
