MISSION STATEMENT: The Office of International Studies provides information, assistance and scholarships for academically sound international studies programs that help students develop their understanding of international/multicultural issues in a changing world.

The primary purpose is to complement the University's academic mission by assisting students in their educational development.

PHILOSOPHY: The Office of International Studies believes that educational experiences abroad provide an excellent opportunity for students to understand other cultures, reach a better understanding of American culture, develop a positive self-concept, and function effectively in an ever changing world.

GOAL 1: Provide information to students about international studies opportunities.

GOAL 2: Advise each student on an individual basis into those programs that best meet the student's academic requirements and qualifications.

GOAL 3: Assure that a student's choice of programs and courses allows him or her to make appropriate progress toward a degree.

GOAL 4: Coordinate with other offices on campus (financial aid, scholarship, Development, registrar) and other universities (University of Southern Mississippi, University of Arizona) in order to assist students with their international application and program choice.

GOAL 5: Integrate an international dimension into academic disciplines.

GOAL 6: Support and expand opportunities for faculty to teach, conduct research, and engage in other academic opportunities abroad.

GOAL 7: Expand scholarship support for overseas studies in all disciplines.

GOAL 8: Assess each program from the perspective of students and their educational experiences.
