PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Assist
the Dean in the oversight of the administrative function of the
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.
Plans
and supervises recruitment and retention initiatives, as well as manage
initiatives and efforts that facilitate the growth of graduate student
enrollment.
2.
Assists
the Dean in maintaining academic standards that are consistent with the role
and mission of the

Reviews
theses and dissertations for quality control and adherence to guidelines.
4.
Assists
the Dean in all administrative affairs, including management of personnel and
oversight of admissions, academic progress, various appeals, academic
suspension, probation, and graduation of all graduate students.
5.
Works
with student information system, including degree audit.
6.
Assists
in working with the Graduate Council: conducts follow-up on action items.
7.
Assists
in the review of adjunct and temporary graduate faculty to ensure that SACS
academic criteria are met.
8.
Coordinates
efforts with the Federation Universities.
9.
Works
with TAMU system graduate deans.
10. Assists with program reviews.
11. Assists with the review and update of the

MARGINAL
FUNCTIONS:
Marginal Functions will vary with the specific assignment and depend on the particular unit or function for which the person is responsible. Consideration will be given on a case by case basis and reassignment of marginal duties will be made when appropriate.
KNOWLEDGE
& SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires tenured faculty status in a department. The successful candidate will have excellent skills in oral, written, and interpersonal communication, as well as basic computer competency.

Normal Speech/Communication Requirements: Ability to communicate verbally with supervisors, co-workers and students to gather information and/or explain procedures.
Normal Written Communications Required: Ability to continually record information such as draft correspondence/reports/documents/policies/procedures, conduct interviews and record information, prepare case narratives, or prepare other lengthy documents using handwritten or mechanical means.

Demands: Moderate travel
required, ability to travel occasionally for activities such as out- of- town
meetings or training sessions.
Lifting Demands: May
lift office equipment and supplies on occasion.
