The Lester Stone Endowment Fund

Lester B. StoneMr. Stone started working in 1968 as an Assistant to the Dean of Business. In 1975, he joined the Economics & the Finance department as a full time teaching assistant professor. He taught courses in Economics, Finance, Management, and Political Science during his career and after his retirement he taught Economics and Finance classes.

Lester Stone grew up in Tampico, Mexico where his father and mother worked in the oil business. After their retirement the whole family relocated to Commerce, TX.

Lester Stone served with the Marine Corps in the Korean War and in WWII. After the war he became the White House Social Aid during the Eisenhower administration. He also worked for the Ford Foundation, while living in several foreign countries such as India, Indonesia, and Pakistan.

Mr. Stone enriched the educational experience of his students by bringing his military and foundation expereince to the classroom. He was a much loved professor who could always be found leading a group of his students in a spirited discussion of the "real world".
