The Stephen Avard Quasi-Endowment Fund
About Dr. Stephen L. Avard, C.F.A.
Dr. Avard worked at Texas A&M University-Commerce for twenty-two years, eight-teen of which he spent serving as the department head. Dr. Avard passed his extensive knowledge to countless students as an advisor for undergraduate as well as graduate students. He supervised several students working on special research projects and independent studies. Dr. Avard was the driving force behind the new Masters in Finance degree.
Dr. Avard received his bachelors degree in Psychology from Northwestern University in 1961, and he obtained his MBA at East Texas State University (now Texas A&M-Commerce) in 1977. He received his doctoral degree in finance from North Texas State University in 1983.
Dr. Avard has published books, presented papers and had numerous articles published in journals such as: Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Financial Education, and International Journal of Finance.
In the past several years, Dr. Avard has consulted with several small new venture capital firms including a video company and a beverage company. He has been a real estate broker in Texas since 1974.
Dr. Avard currently lives in Sherman, Texas and leads a very dynamic lifestyle by traveling, reading and spending time with his family. He continues to support the community and education.
