Kenneth & Joyce McCord Endowed Scholarship Fund in Accounting
Kenneth McCord first came to East Texas State Teachers College (now A&M-Commerce) as a freshman in June of 1947. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in January of 1950 and earned a Master of Science degree in 1955. He was awarded a Ph.D. degree in May of 1967 from the University of Oklahoma.
After teaching business courses in the Daingerfield High School for five years, Kenneth joined the business faculty at A&M-Commerce to teach accounting in September of 1955 and retired in May of 1995. During his forty year tenure, Kenneth served ten years as the first department head for the department of accounting and was appointed Professor Emeritus in May of 1996.
Joyce McCord earned a Bachelor of Science degree from West Texas State Teachers College (now West Texas A&M); a Masters of Education from Sam Houston State University; and a Master of Science from Louisiana State University. She was a librarian in the A&M-Commerce library when she retired.
Kenneth & Joyce have been generously funding scholarships for students in the Department of Accounting since his retirement. Their endowment account now has over $50,000 in it and they have been inducted into the "Founders Circle" by the University for their generous donations.
Kenneth and Joyce reside in Commerce.
