Windows ME/2000/XP

Right Click on an empty area of your desktop and

select Properties.

Click on the Screensaver tab.

Under the Screen Saver section, select either the Blank or Windows XP screensaver from the drop-down menu.

For Increased Security:

Click the box next to On resume, password protect to select this option.

In the box next to Wait, select a value of less than 30 minutes.   Less than 15 minutes is even better.

If you are away from your computer for longer than this set time, your computer will be locked, thus better protecting valuable (and perhaps private) information and making your computer less susceptible to unauthorized access.  For help choosing a strong password, click here.

Rather than waiting for the wait time to expire, you can immediately lock your computer by using one of the following key combinations:  ctrl-alt-del (select Lock Computer) or WindowsKey plus L.

Under the Monitor Power section, click the Power... button

Choose the settings most appropriate to your work environment.

CTIS recommends setting the monitor and hard disk to turn off after 20 minutes.

You may also set your system to hibernates after 2 hours.

Click OK after you are finished.

Click OK again on the Display Properties window
