A.  pH analysis

  • measures the acidity or alkalinity of the soil

  • allow you to determine what type of plants grow better in which type of soil

  • determines the need for pH elevator (gypsum or lime)

B.  N-P-K analysis

  • measures the amount of the primary nutrients provided by soil (nutrients needed in large amounts)

  • allows you to determine which fertilizer to use by recommendations provided

C.  Micronutrients analysis

  • measures the amount of secondary nutrients provided by soil (nutrients needed in small amounts)

  • allows you to determine any supplemental nutrient additions other than standard fertilizers

D.  Specialized Tests

  • Types

  •       1.  liming requirements

  •       2.  texture analysis

  •       3.  organic matter analysis

  •       4.  Boron test (typically needed for sandy areas where clover, alfalfa, etc. are grown and

  •             irrigation water is in question)

  • East test result determines the specific analysis of the soil content and recommendations
