OPTICAL SCAN SHEETS
A computerized scanning and scoring system will be used to calculate scores
of all Career Development Events conducted at Texas A&M University-Commerce
.Please do the following to ensure that your "Scantron" score sheet will be graded correctly.
1.
Use a #2 pencil.
2.
Fill in your school's name, your contestant number, your chapter FFA number,
and your last and first names properly on the form. This should be
completed before contest start time.
3.
When blackening a bubble on the "Scantron" sheet, move your pencil
back and forth horizontally to fill the bubble.DO NOT fill the bubble
with a circular motion as a small clear spot is usually left in the
center of the bubble. The optical scanner will not read that kind
of mark.DO NOT lick the tip of your pencil.
4.
Be sure of your placing/grading/identification before filling in a bubble.
You can change your mind as often as you like before filling
in the bubble. But, after you have darkened a bubble completely,
it may be better to be a "little" wrong than try to erase a darkened mark.
Erasures should be complete without damaging the scan sheet itself.
5.
Blacken each bubble completely and uniformly, but DO NOT bear down
so hard on the pencil and go over the bubble so often that the
surface acquires a hard glaze. The optical scanner will not read that
kind of mark either.
6.
It is best that you NOT use a clipboard because the clip on the clipboard
tends to cause scan sheets to wrinkle.
7.
Handle your scan sheet very carefully.DO NOT bend or fold any scan sheet.
DO NOT let the corners get "Dog-eared."Do not punch holes in the sheet.
Finally, please keep the sheets dry!If you have any questions about using
the scan sheet, please ask your section leader or other contest official
for help.DO NOT ask or talk with another contestant. You may be disqualified
from the contest if you do so.
