BYLAWS
FARM BOY ALUMNI CHAPTER
OF THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OF
TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY-COMMERCE

 
 

Article I

NAME

The name of this organization is the Farm Boy Chapter of the Alumni Association of Texas A&M University-Commerce, chartered by the Board of Directors of The Association.

Article II

PURPOSE

The Farm Boy Chapter is organized to strengthen The Alumni Association and the Department of Agricultural Sciences by providing opportunities for local fellowship, friendship and leadership for members. Additionally, the chapter will work to strengthen the Department of Agricultural Sciences through such activities as student recruitment, establishment of scholarship programs, and other activities deemed appropriate by the chapter, department and university. Through these activities, Texas A&M University-Commerce continues to emerge as a world-class university, embraced as a single entity by her united and supportive alumni.

Article III

MEMBERSHIP AND PARTICIPATION

Section 1. Active Membership. An individual may be an active member with voting privilege if they worked on the TAMU-Commerce University Farm while attending college.

Section 2. Associate Membership. An individual may be an associate member without voting privilege if they have been or currently are employed by TAMU-Commerce in a faculty or support staff position associated with the Department of Agricultural Sciences.

Article IV

OFFICERS AND COMMITTEE CHAIRS

Section 1. All current dues paying members of the Alumni Association in the Farm Boy Chapter are eligible for election to all officer positions or appointment to chair positions.

Section 2. A slate of officers shall be prepared by a nominating committee consisting of at least four dues-paying members of the Alumni Association. The slate will be present at the annual business meeting to be held in October.

Section 3. The following officers shall be elected for two-year terms: President, Vice President (President-Elect), and Secretary/Treasurer (Vice President-Elect) and such other officers as may be desirable.

Section 4. The following committee chairs may be appointed for two-year terms by the officers as soon as possible following their election: Annual Meeting, Scholarship, Membership, Placement, Recruitment, Communications/Publicity, and Political Involvement.

Section 5. The Officers are empowered to replace an officer and/or committee chair who does not perform his/her duties.

Section 6. If an officer or committee chair is unable to fulfill his/her term, the President may fill the remaining term by appointment, subject to approval by the other Officers.

Article V

MEETINGS

The annual business meeting of the Chapter shall be held during TAMU-Commerce Homecoming Week each year, at such time and place as may be designated by the Officers of the Chapter. Other meetings and activities may be held as deemed desirable by the Officers.

Article VI

REORGANIZATION

In the event an annual election of the Officers is not held and there is no organized Chapter activity for two years, The Alumni Association may appoint new officers to reorganize the chapter.
 
 

Article VII

AMENDMENTS

These Bylaws may be amended with both the approval of the Officers and ratification by the membership at a regular or called meeting with at least twelve members in attendance.
