January 31, 2008 for the Fifth Year Scholarships
Accounting Majors Scholarship Application
Includes Finance and MIS majors if they are members of
Beta Alpha Psi
All accounting majors who have completed at least one upper
level accounting class (except for ACCT 311)
More money awarded for members and pledges of Beta Alpha Psi
Fifth-Year Accountancy Scholarship
Eligible students for 5th year scholarship:
ü Are classified by their institutions as Texas residents;
ü Are enrolled at participating public or private, non-profit colleges and universities in Texas (including junior/community colleges);
ü Are enrolled at least half-time;
ü Will have completed at least 120 hours of college course work (including at least 15 semester credit hours of accounting) at the beginning of the term in which the award is being made;
ü Are making satisfactory academic progress (2.0 GPA requirement or 3.0 graduate & minimum of a "C" in each major course or "B" for graduate courses);
ü Have not already taken the CPA exam, but plan to take the CPA examination in the State of Texas and are willing to sign a written statement confirming the intent to take the written examination conducted by the Texas State Board of Public Accounting for the purpose of being granted a certificate of "Certified Public Accountant;"
ü Register for the Selective Service or are exempt from this requirement; and
ü Demonstrate significant financial need.
