Supplemental Instruction

What is it?

Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a non-remedial academic
assistance program that increases student performance in
traditionally difficult courses.

Benefits:

*Regularly scheduled, out-of-class, peer facilitated sessions.
*Integrate how-to-learn with what-to-learn.
*Open to all students enrolled in the targeted class.
*It is voluntary.
*It is FREE.
A&M Commerce students attending two or more sessions
average one and a half letter grade higher than students
who choose not to attend an SI session.

Who leads SI Sessions?

SI Leaders are:
*Students who have successfully completed the targeted
course.
*Students trained to facilitate the sessions.
*Serve as model students by attending all classes,
reading all assigned material, and take notes as well
as the tests.
*Supervised by trained professional staff members.
*Receive a stipend for their services.

What are the targeted classes?

SI is currently available for math 141, math 175, math 176, math 179
